Antiseptics are the antimicrobes. Antiseptics are the chemical which either kill or prevent the growth of microorganism and are safe to be applied to the living tissues e.g., soframicine. They can not be taken orally like antibiotics.
Which type of drugs come under antimicrobial drugs?
Disease in human beings and animals may be caused by a variety of microorganisms such as bacteria, virus, fungi and other pathogens.
An antimicrobial tends to destroy/prevent development or inhibit the pathogenic action of microbes such as bacteria (antibacterial drugs), fungi (antifungal agents), virus (antiviral agents), or other parasites (antiparasitic drugs) selectively. Antiseptic, disinfectants, antibiotics and sulpha drugs are antimicrobial drugs.
